Nova Scotia offers breathtaking coastlines, scenic lakes, and vibrant trails that invite exploration and connection. Yet, outdoor recreation in our province isn’t always accessible to everyone. We’re here to change that.
Lunar Adventures specializes in inclusive and beginner-friendly water sports equipment rental—from kayaks and paddleboards to pedal boats and bikes—making it easier for people of all backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels to enjoy the natural beauty of the Halifax and Dartmouth areas.

Our team is made up of passionate, First-Aid and CPR certified outdoor enthusiasts we proudly call our Rental & Retail Associates. Each team member is committed to providing the education, gear, and support needed to ensure your rental experience is safe, enjoyable, and unforgettable—whether you’re paddling, pedaling, or exploring the shoreline.

Participant Waiver for Water Sports Equipment Rentals
Your safety is our top priority. Before participating in any of our Nova Scotia outdoor adventures—including kayak rentals, paddleboard rentals, bike rentals or pedal boat experiences—all guests are required to complete a quick liability waiver.
Completing this waiver in advance ensures a smooth, safe, and enjoyable rental experience, allowing you to make the most of your time on the water.

What is your cancellation policy?
We strive to provide our customers with the best possible experience. We understand that plans can change, and sometimes you may need to cancel your reservation. If you need to cancel or reschedule your reservation check your email confirmation and review order to cancel or contact us via phone. To accommodate such situations while ensuring fair treatment for all our customers, we have established a clear and simple cancellation policy. Do I need a reservation, or can I walk in?
Reservations are always reccomended. Walk-ins are welcome when availability allows, but evenings and weekends are our busiest times. For the best experience, we recommend booking your equipment rental in advance online or by phone. Groups of 8+ please contact events@lunar-adventures.com
What should I bring with me for pedaling or paddling?
When preparing for a day of pedaling or paddling, it’s important to bring the right gear to ensure a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience. Whether you’re renting a kayak, paddleboard, pedal boat, or bike, here are some essential items to consider:
Hat: Protect yourself from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat.
Sunscreen: Apply a high-SPF sunscreen to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.
Sunglasses: Polarized sunglasses help reduce glare off the water and improve visibility.
Water: Stay hydrated by bringing plenty of water.
Footwear: Choose sandals, water shoes, or athletic shoes you don’t mind getting wet. Going barefoot is also an option for watercraft, but not recommended for biking.
Quick-dry clothing: Wear clothing that dries quickly and is suitable for both warm and cool weather. Avoid cotton.
Light jacket: Bring a light, wind-resistant jacket for cooler or breezy conditions.
Change of clothes: There’s always a chance of getting wetter than expected—especially with paddleboards and kayaks—or you may want to swim before or after your activity.
Backpack or small dry bag: Helpful for carrying personal items, snacks, or extra layers on longer biking trips.

Can I rent if I’ve never paddled before?
Yes! Our rentals are beginner-friendly, and we love introducing first-timers to paddling. You’ll receive a thorough safety orientation and tips from our trained staff. We also have a certified paddleboard instructor on our team to help you get started with confidence.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Not necessarily. We provide life jackets with all water sports equipment rentals. We highly recommend that you know how to swim to rent paddleboards. Our kayaks and pedal boats are stable and beginner-friendly. Plus, our team is First-Aid and CPR-certified to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Are pets allowed?
Yes—we’re pet-friendly! Bring your furry companion along for your paddleboard or pedal boat rental. Please follow these rules:
- Pets must be leashed at all times when on our premises.
- Bring a life jacket for your pet. We don’t offer pet life jacket for rent at this time.
- Clean up after your pet to maintain the cleanliness of our facilities
- Ensure your pet is well-behaved, non-aggressive and doesn’t cause disturbance to other guests.
What are the age limitations for rentals?
Guests must be 18+ to rent water sports equipment alone.
- Ages 15–17 can operate their own equipment when accompanied by an adult, standard rate applies.
- Kids 14 and under can rent a junior kayak or paddleboard for FREE! and ride alone or by tow. They may also ride along in a pedal boat, double kayak or paddleboard as long as they are accompanied by an adult and meet the weight restrictions.
- Proof of age may be required.
Are there weight restrictions for rentals?
Yes. Each watercraft and bike has its own weight limit, listed on the product descriptions available online. Note for a 2 person pedal boat rental or two guests of similar weight are recommended for balance. If you’re unsure, just ask us at management@lunar-adventures.com.
